MY INSPIRATION
When I read this quote in a book about 25 years ago, it really rang true to my heart, therefore I was inspired to express it in calligraphy –literally the Art of Beautiful Writing–. I consider everything I design to be a reflection of who I am.
I know “Excellence” is a word that is commonly overused, but for me it means to be fully committed to every project I design, no matter how big or small.
In the past, small projects lead to big projects and those projects lead to the next opportunity. I have a profound commitment to professional excellence which I poor into every project I design and include in my portfolio.
MY STORY
30+ years of professional Graphic Design experience and Art Direction in agencies and corporations across USA, South America, Central America and Europe.
My work in United States has primarily been focused in the Southeast market, with some of the top companies in the city of Atlanta, Georgia.
I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. Graduated as Graphic Designer at the National University of Colombia in 1990, went on to receive my master’s degree in Digital Graphic Design from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2001. After graduation, my wife and I moved to Atlanta, the lovely city where we live with our two sons Andrés and Juan.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
The Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources invited me to participate in the new design of the Georgia’s Marine Habitat license plate. My design was chosen via online poll in 2016 and garnered more than 52 percent of the votes. Funds from sale of this license plate are used in combination with Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration and donations from businesses, private individuals and conservation groups such as the Coastal Conservation Association to enhance habitats used by a variety of marine species.
In 2013 I was invited by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to participate in the design contest of the new Georgia’s Non-game Wildlife license plate. The new design was selected by more than 18,000 people who participated in the voting process. This license plate supports the Wildlife Resources Division’s Nongame Conservation Section, which uses proceeds from plate purchases and renewals to fund programs focused on conserving Georgia’s nongame and endangered wildlife, rare plants and natural habitats, from bald eagles to pitcherplant bogs.
In 2010 a logo I designed for Environmental Turf Management was selected for the first book in the new Master Library series, a remarkable LogoLounge project; which is said to include all of the exemplary logo design work from creatives around the world.
The Coca-Cola Company Family Federal Credit Union Annual Report won the Diamond Award as the Best Annual Report in 2001. This award was granted by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing Council.
In 1996 the company where I was partner “Concepto e Imagen” was selected out of several design firms to create a commemorative book celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries. This book was a gift to be given by the President of Colombia to all the other Presidents from around the world. There were more than 115 presidents who received this book.
